Charitable IRA Rollovers…Part III
If you still haven’ t taken a look at Tip #6, The Pen Is Mightier, we hope this month’s contribution piques your interest in it. There’s a Charitable IRA Rollovers are the easiest conversation to have, because it puts you and your donors on the same side of the table. There’s no complicated forms to fill out or medical tests to take, they simply have to request a checkbook for their IRA.
Generally, when money is withdrawn from an IRA account (aka “Qualified Money”) it is taxed as any other income would be. But, when an individual writes a check from their IRA to a 501c-3 organization that money exits the IRA and 100% of those funds go to the organization. No government middle man. Not only is the donor reducing their taxable gross income for the year, but they are also able to give more to the charities they already support! That’s what we call a Win, Win, Win (aka Tip #3).
