You don’t need to know everything about planned giving. It’s ok to answer a question with “I don’t know but I can get you an answer in a couple of days.”
No one is expecting you to be an expert on everything. It’s fine when you don’t know the answer to something offhand, but make sure that you’re following up and using your outside resources to make your job easier and your donors more confident in the organization. Don’t like saying “I don’t know”…? Try one of these phrases instead.
